Hi Caroline. The Canon Lide range of scanners are excellent portable scanners, they're USB powered and are ideal for netbook use. I use one for both my netbooks and laptops, at home on the desk and while travelling. You can use any OCR program such as Open Book, Kurzweil or a commercial application like Fine Reader which again, I recommend.
All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Caroline Ford" <caroline@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hello,I'd be interested to know whether anyone is using a portable scanner with a netbook, and if so, which model have you found to be working well? Does a netbook, specifically the Samsung NC10, have enough power through its USB ports to run one of the scanners which doesn't run off the mains. Thanks, Caroline. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
