This is a rather wide topic and so the most efficient means of bringing
information to you would be use of the web, from there in most cases you can
follow up with demonstration disks etc, for your friend to try out.

Your friend may want to explore exactly what they need (and possibly may
need in near future) Do they need magnification? If so how much and
whether they need speech as a backup? Most of the products listed below
have quite extensive magnification facilities but if they only needed two
times magnification and on a budget for example they might find Bigshot
useful or one of the offerings like Screen Ruler on
http://www.screenreader.co.uk/products/finding.htm. The other magnification
solutions below offer either just magnification (usualy up to 16 times) and
an option at least of some speech feedback.

Dolphin have Lunar and also Supernova, check them out at:
http://www.dolphincomputeraccess.com

Ai Squared offer Zoomtext and Bigshot, check them out at:
www.aisquared.com

Also there is Dual:
http://www.screenreader.co.uk

Freedom Scientific offer Magic 9.30:
www.freedomscientific.com

I may have left some out (with due apologies to those) but these would be
the main contenders.

Subject: [access-uk] Screen Magnification Software

Listers,

I know that the above has been discussed on the list on numerous
occasions but as is usually the way in such matters, I haven't needed
this information until now that is.

The mother of a friend needs magnification software to enable her to
read her computer screen. Can those members who have knowledge and
experience of such software please pass the relevant urls on to me.

As always, many thanks.

Matty.
