Sorry it's taken me a while to reply to this but
I'd be very interested to know how a venue can
possibly not be accessible by car or train as you
suggested with Sight Village Central in
Birmingham? I didn't get there this year myself,
but I'm sure lots of people did.

But I would like to take things further by saying that I think within about 10 years time those manufacturers that are around today making special devises for us who are blind or short sighted will not be around, because so many more things will be on the open market.
Also by then, or soon after, glasses with a camera which can help us to see things may even be be on sale at places like Specsavers or Boots!!
The only specialists manufacturers left will be those who make braille machines, especially those that will interface fully with mainstream devises.
For example, you can today buy a braille notetaker for about £900 to £1000 and an up to date tablet for about £500, with a total cost of about £1500. Or instead you can lay out £4000 for a specially manufactured braille devise with built in screen, which is based on the old Android systems which cannot be updated! I know which system I would prefer!
