Thanks so much Doris for your full and useful reply. I don't use it much so may as well upgrade and keep fairly current ... -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx On Twitter: http://twitter.com/songbird49a -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx On Twitter: http://twitter.com/songbird49a ---- Original Message ---- From: "Doris and Chris" <chipmunks@xxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 2010 10:03 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: "Skype 3.8 for Business" onFilesend
No, If you are comfortable with 4.2, you should use it byall means. Its audio quality is superior and it uses less bandwidth, thus making it ideal for low-bandwidth connections such as dialup.I find that file sending and conference calls are quite difficult to manage in skype 4.x, especially when using ascreen reader that does not have full mouse emulation. If you have not used skype in a while and if you do not do a lot of conferencing and file transferring, you areprobably best served by using the current version and getting familiar with it rather than the older 3.8 that might force you to upgrade and then learn something new.Hanging on to 3.8 is more for those of us who know itlike the back of our hands and who want or need one of its few more accessible features.I used to go with the latest and greatest with skype allthe time but have not since the 4.x cycle. I do use 4.2 on occasion when talking to someone on dialup or a capped connection. skype 4.2 is quite usable even without the benefit of jaws scripts for it. 3.8 is just mor convenient and a bit more accessible.hth Doris At 09:18 AM 7/27/2010 +0100, you wrote:Hi there, What's wrong with 4.2? I found that installing the business version of skype 3.8 and disabling the autoupdates in skype's options has prevented these unsolicited updates from recurring. someone needed the installer for skype 3.8 for Business and I put it on Filesend for them. I hthought maybe someone else might benefit from this. Please find the download link below this message. I packaged the actual installer inside a 7-zip archive. winrar or 7-zip will extract 7-zip archives. hth Doris forwarded download link: Someone has sent you the file, Skype3.8.0.188_corp_Setup.7z (14.32 MB), and you may download it here: http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=6acad2208ec8dbeb205365e4bc4c08a9. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-followinglink:- **[mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, clickon the ** immediately-following link:-** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq No virus found in this incoming message.
