Hi Barry.

First of all you need to create the sound files. Get your children, nephew or grandchildren to speak into a tape recorder or whatever.

Save the file, using GoldWave or similar program as an mp3 file to your desk-top

Then move it to the directory that XP uses - I can give you the direct location over the weekend.

Get bac to me Barry , this is easy as I've done it before, but it's better in small instructions.

For example, I had a foster Child announce "Welcome toAndy's computer" when I booted up and it was delightful to hear his wee voice every time I booted up.

This is easy stuff Barry but plenty of key-srokes. So Lets take our time eh?

It's well worth it. I had the wee guy saying Welcome to Andy's computer on boot up and a pink floyde track on closure.

Firstof all you need to record the files. I use GoldWave and I can give you instructions if You need them, them so please get back to me over the weekend.

best wishes.

Andy

Hi Barry.

You know that you can create your own short audio files and assign them to
any of these tasks. For example, a niece or nephew saying Welcome to
Barry's computer or Goodbye folks. Have a nice Christmas.

Best wishes.

Andy

Hi Andy

Doh! It was the 'arrow up to none' that I was missing. It's simple when
you
know how. Jaws does actually say 'Use the arrow keys...' when in the
field.
I should listen more and have a little patients.

Thanks again.

Barry

Hi Barry.

Start\control panel\sounds and audio devices.

Control Tab to Sounds.

Tab once and you will be on the Windows Default. Tab again to save as and
press enter.

You will be prompted for afile name. Type Barry. and press enter.

you Will be on a treeview of events. Arrow up and down these and you will
come across the two you are looking for, I.e, Exit Windows and Start
Windows.

Go back to Exit Windows.

Press Tab then arrow up to None.

Press tab a number of time until you get back onto the treeview of files,
then arrow down to Exit Windows.

Tab once then again, arrow up to none.

Tab a number of time till you get to Apply then okay.

You will have to re-boot to get the new files to work.

Get back to me Barry if necessary.

Best wishes.

Andy
