TRAILHi Vince and all,

Sorry to come late on this, but can one actually by any of the Loquendo voices?
I visited the link you provided, Vince, and I liked what I heard but couldn't
gather much about purchases. Mind you, I've never used any other synth with
JAWS than Eloquence so I'm a total novice when it comes to this.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Amro

i'll really look forward to that! For my money, the best I've heard is the
Loquendo voices on
  http://www.loquendo.com/en/demos/interactive_tts_demo.htm

   - I especially like Kate with the little touches of emotion you can program
in.

And about the worst in recent times must be Audomadic Da-a-a-a-a-a-a-ave,
which arrived with the demo of Hal if I remember rightly.

Dectak singing is probably corny for experienced blindies, but I've only just
come across it - reminds me of Tonto's Epanding Head band from about 1970,
where they got a moog synth to sing.

  Vince.

Apologies for the cross-posting, but this is something which I hope and
imagine would be of interest to people on either list. On Tuesday's In Touch
I'm doing a piece about the place of sampled and synthesised voices in the
lives of Blind and PS people. The aim of the piece, as well as having a bit of
a laugh at some of the dafter ones is to get listeners to contribute examples
of voices you particularly like or dislike or find annoying or amusing. Be
warned that we'll be after not just nominations, but, where possible, actual
examples. More info on Radio 4 on Tuesday 23 May at 2040 and thereafter on the
In Touch pages of the BBC Website. Hope you'll all be there and tell your
friends!

    Cheers now.

    Ian
