Hello tony.

Remote content refers to when someone sends you images pasted in to a message. 
By default, thunderbird blocks them just in case they are harmful. If you need 
to display them, for a sighted user perhaps, if you tab there is a show remote 
content button which you can click. This also gives you the option to 
permanently allow images to be displayed from a certain sender. This is not the 
same as email attachments by the way, this is when someone directly pastes an 
image in to a message for your perusal.
