Last week the availability of Windows VISTA SP1 was discussed. Service pack one for VISTA is now available for stand alone download. It is a large file containing localisation for multiple languages, a smaller version will become available through Windows Update over the next month or two for anyone who cannot face the 400mb download. There are some known issues with certain drivers and scenarios, however what should be born in mind is that many device drivers and some applications mentioned have already been updated though you should always check before installing. if you plan to download this update from the download Centre please be careful to do your research first, or wait for the service pack to come to you and Windows Update. I can report however that service pack one landed and installed onto my VISTA machine without a single hitch despite all the bad press and kicking the OS and its update gets in the media. The link below I have given is for the 32 bit stand alone version and links leading off this page will allow you to view information about what the service pack attempts to fix as well as the download location.
