20 minutes is very slow and I am not sure that I have ever had this slow a transfer unless I was actually transferring through a USB 1 cable on the old Stream.

If you are using a cable to a non powered hub this may explain this rate.
The fastest option would be to get an internal card reader installed
on your tower, these can be bought often for under £10 but need to be fitted of course. Subjectively these appear pretty similar to hard drive speeds of transfer to me. However even without an internal reader you should still be getting faster transfer even with a cheap USB plugin card reader running at USB 2 just by plugging it straight into your Tower and not using any kind of hub.
These can often be bought for under £5.

Hello
Earlier today I loaded a book onto a SD card to play in my VRS. Quite a large one that took around 20 minutes to transfer. I have a USB 3 PCI card installed in the back of my tower with 4 USB sockets. Not very convenient to grovel around to use but I was wondering if I bought a USB 3 Hub and used that would it raise the transfer speed to USB 3 levels?
Many thanks Roger
