No it isn't sadly. Neither are the LG phones because their operating platform is different. i always become confused about all those letters and what they stand for. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doris and Chris" <chipmunks@xxxxxxx>

Is the "Haven" phone available in the U.K.? This is a phone that talks out of the box and has distinguishable keys.

also, several of the LG hones talk out of the box though their speech access is not as complete as a phone running talks.

I concur with Jackie. Internet and e-mail access will be via your service provider as it does not have wi-fi capability. If you can get a C5 without Talks and have a contract with Vodafone then they will put Talks on free of charge.

Hi Niamh

Welcome to the list. Between us, we try to help one another and have
interesting views on assistive technology.

I would recommend the Nokia C5 to you, which will run the Talks software.
If you haven't come across Talks, where have you been? (smile). It is a
mini screen reader that allows you to use your phone as a sighted person
would.

The RNIB sell the C5 with Talks, but you might also like to try
www.comproom.co.uk
or
www.creativeeyes.co.uk

I hope that puts you in the right direction. You will be pushed to find a
handset with good buttons on it now unfortunately.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

I have survived for the last two years on a horrible RNIB talking phone
which looked and felt as if it belonged in an institution.
what I need is:
1.
a phone with good speech.
2.
buttons not a screen.
3.
I want to text and make calls, nothing more complex.
4.
I would ideally like it to work in Ireland and France as I visit quite
often.

Simplicity is my greatest need I would love to be able to either walk into
a mobile phone store or order on line and for it to work out of the box.

All suggestions welcome, I am getting desperate?
Niamh
