Hi Andrew, VLC isn’t my main player but I’ve just had a quick look and came up with this: There’s an extensive list of hotkeys that can even be reassigned. To access the list go to menu>tools>preferences>hotkeys panel. I found the preferences dialog quite hard to access if not at all inaccessible in some parts. However, after some use of the virtual cursor then get sighted help I can tell you that it’s CTRL + arrow up/down to control volume. You may need to activate the pass key through feature in your screen reader (ins 3 in Jaws) for the VLC hotkeys to work. Here’s below the URL of the hotkeys page of the VLC user guide for more info https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Hotkeys/ and this page below has a table of all the menu items of VLC along with their shortcuts. I saw something about bookmarks in it: https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Play_HowTo/Basic_Use/Menus/ and here’s the URL for the VLC user guide main page https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:User_Guide/ Again, I only had a quick play with VLC so hopefully others will contribute but I hope this will give you a starting point. From what I’ve seen I figure if one learns some of the hotkeys from the list I mentioned it’ll be sailing from there. The list is really very extensive! However now they have chosen to abandon their Windows media and AAC and AAC Plus streams I have a bit of a problem. Whilst there is an MP3 stream of each of the BBC stations, these are unrestricted and hence do not carry many of the sports commentaries. The streams that do are the HTTP based streams, HLS, HDS and DASH. The problem is that Winamp will not play these. Whilst I realise Winamp isn’t being developed any more, does anyone know whether there is a plug in available from anywhere that will enable playing of these streams through Winamp? Alternatively, one player that will play these streams is the VLC Media Player. However I cannot work out for the life of me how to turn the player up and down, how to set and retrieve bookmarks, or any of the functions of the player like that. If anyone out there knows this player please could you point me in the right direction? I can’t even find the user documentation to which the help points! Please feel free to contact me off list if you want to reduce the traffic for those who aren’t interested in this topic. Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide, Andrew
