Another lever is that if an assessment hasn't been carried out by ATW, the
chances of the company receiving funding for the access technology (albeit
probably only in part) are pretty slim!

Jaws 13 doesn't work with windows 8, I'm not surprised you've been having 
roblems.  Windows 8 is awful I'd agree, however its going to be ten times 
worse for you if you keep messing about with the access tech, especially if 
it has been installed by a technician who presumably knows what is 
compatible with what.  Have you had a propper assessment of your technology 
needs by a certified professional?  Your employer should see to it that the 
technology not only meets your needs, but if upgrading is necessary that you

have full and propper training and an upgrade plan drawn up to meet your 
specific needs as it will take you longer to adapt to the new system.
