Hi Colin,

what your experiencing is very common amongst us zoomtext users. Ever since version 8 people have been complaining about the sluggish performance of zoomtext in various different ways. What i find grating is that zt is, i assume zt is causing this, that when you go to fill in a form on the net. You type in the first letter and, then the mouse, momentarily, switch to busy status, back to regular mouse, busy etc. Just for a moment and then that first letter just typed is deleted and, the cursor is gone!!! So, have to click back into the text field and start all over again! Some webpages, although loaded, can suddenly disappear for a moment, only to come back again, loaded as they were before hand. There are delays in ms word, when starting to write or highlight pre-written text. it's very annoying. i have been thinking about going over to the dual package (outlook and speakout) or whatever it is called. I think it's a shame zt isn't as good as it used to be but, I'm hoping things will dramatically improve by the time we get to version 9.

The following is a posting from the magnifiers group

Hi Paul,

It seems that you are very optimistic about what AiSquared will do and
can do.

Yes, I am! It's wonderful, top of the line magnification software made by one of the best software companies I've ever had contact with.

The sluggish behavior of ZoomText 8, is already reported month ago, but
no progress seems to have made by AiSquared.

What sluggish behavior? Reported by whom? If you're having speed issues with ZoomText 8 I suggest you e-mail Ai Squared and they can try to resolve the issue.

The Tieman Group wordwide vendor of asssistive technoolgy hard- and
software, including ZoomText, recommend NOT to use ZoomText on work
locations, because it performs badly in network environments and
conflicts with other assistive technology products.

Well okay... that's their perogative to do so if they want. Making such a broad sweeping generalization like that isn't something I would do, though.

I contacted AiSquared many times in the past. But the only thing I hear
was "that they couldn't reproduce' the problem.

Well, they probably couldn't reproduce the problem. So?

There are countless different PC configurations out there and they can't
test every single combination of video card, processor, modem, etc
before shipping the product. They can try to work with you to resolve
the problem, though. Sometimes there is no solution to a problem at the
moment. Such is life.

Now I'm using Supernova from Dolphin and I never crash.

Good! Likewise, I'm sure there are some people who have had Supernova crash and decided to switch to ZoomText. It's all about finding what magnification software suits your needs.
