Hi George, He uses it for web browsing, e-mailing and ripping music, and
uses JAWS. He's been complaining that his 5-year-old laptop seems awfully
slow these days. Have used the usual system tools and so on, but it does
still seem slow to me compared with the machines of today.
Thanks,
Richard

Urban myths again!

I firmly believe choice has to be based on what the user wants to do with
it. If it's just e-mail, browsing the web, and the odd letter to the
grandchildren, there are some very nice small desktops about. Is he using
any adaptive technology?

George.

Hi George, From a VI former IT professional living in Glasgow. Now that
you've questioned it, I can't imagine that that process would in fact
happen; presumably they'd just burn an XP image on to a virgin drive.

So George, what brands do you like nowadays?
Thanks.

Where have you heard that myth, Richard?

George.

HI, As the subject suggests, I need to get a new desktop for my
father-in-Law. I have heard that the Dell range running XP are downgraded
from Vista, and that that doesn't always work well with Jaws. I should
welcome comments on this, and what other makes are popular, and where to
find a suitable machine. Thanks,
Richard
