hi. in that case it must be a sound driver problem, reinstall your sound drivers. make sure your sound balance is set to 50%. surely when you shift from left to right, at the mid point you can hear them both? it could also be a windows 8 problem.

some computers have multiple audio out jacks on the back. you may have
plugged it in to a jack meant for 1 speaker only. make sure you have
them plugged in to the right jack i.e the standard speaker out jack.
