I use my nabaztag www.nabaztag.com to listen to some internet radio stations -
although internet radio isn't something I do a lot of.

Nabaztag is basicly a screenless wireless web client. It delivers spoken
email, newsfeeds, and plays podcasts and streamed content.

You configure the device via a web portal so it is still dependant on a PC but
there's no need to have the computer on to use the nabaztag.

You can set events for particular times of day, or simply to be played when
received so for example wake up at 7 with a particular radio station, announce
todays weather at ten past, do nothing all day (while you're at work), play
news headlines at 6, your podcasts of the day from 7 onwards, and announce any
other news feeds as they are published EG sports headlines and the like.

There is also some limited voice input capability in the new generation you can
for instance tell him to play a number of preset radio stations, or tell you
the weather forcast.

Nabaztag is Armenian for rabbit and the device is in the shape of a plastic
rabbit complete with ears that spin and adopt different positions to tell you
things about the status of the device.

It's available for lots of places on the Web and a number of highstreet stores
too including PC world and the usual suspects from around £90. Only
requirements are a wifi network and proximity to a mains socket.

It isn't completely wonderful. It is made and maintained in france so some of
the support materials are a little lacking in the English language versions,
there isn't a large UK user community, and all the services run on the vilet
companies own servers so if they have issues at their end your rabbit will be
effected. For example mine has been very sporadic for the last couple of weeks,
more offline than online. And the web is littered with horror storys of people
who have owned them for years with them never having really worked properly
although I wouldn't be without mine.

Also as the owners are French the French owners tend to get the best
developments first for example you can get travel news and air quality news
information but only for paris.

But sounds by far a better option than the internet radio.

We have been here before, and, in a word, convenience is what this device is
about, and not having to turn on or be able to use a PC to listen to internet
radio.

More at:

Llike Jackie, I think this is a batty way of selling a customised version of
the Orion web radio.

I suggest those interested find an email contact at the following:

Someone should be importing this now, shouldn't they? Maybe we'll be lumbered
with these crippled versions of the thing. What the hell's wrong with this
country?

Hi, and why would you want to use that for internet radio anyway when you can
attach a computer to a hifi and use any number of really accessible things like
SpeakOn, Screamer Radio and Accessible Internet Radio Tuner?

Cheers
Dave
