Hi Barry

Finding my cards is not a problem I always know where they
are but because of my illness encephalitis I find it
difficult grasping things i.e. codes, once I have remembered
them it is ok, but what is worrying me is if the screen
changes or I lose the focus. I can log-in with my memorable
data but if I do a transaction I need a card reader,
apparently there is no way around it now, before I up-graded
my account it worked for me fine.

Regards

Adrien

Hi Adrien

I didn't know about the 40 seconds limit, and I've never
been caught out by
it, so I don't think it is an issue to be fair.

Incidentally, I think there might be an alternative to this
card reader
whereby you put in your memorable information, but the card
reader is so
easy that I've never done it. The only slight issue is that
I need to go
hunting for my card when I need to do my banking, which
means I have to get
up off my lazy backside :-)

Cheers

Barry

Hi Barry

Ok thanks for explanation, it seems pretty simple, no more
difficult than
entering a password apart from you only have
40 seconds apparently. Nationwide are sending me an
accessible i.e. speaking
card reader. Thanks again.

Regards

Adrien

HI Adrien

Ask your bank for a talking card reader. The counter staff
might not know
what one is, but insist. I had to. Once you get that, it's
pretty simple.
You go to the bank site and put your user number in then hit
enter. At the
next screen, you have to select the account in a drop down
list if you have
more than one, then tab to the edit box for your security
code I'd
recommend turning number lock on on your keyboard so that
you can easily use
the number pad. This is where you turn to your card reader.
You put your
card in, hit the top right button and it will ask for your
pin number. This
is the number you use at any ATM or chip and pin machine.
If you make a
mistake with your four digit pin, the bottom left is the
delete button to
delete a character at a time. . Once you've put your pin
number in, you
press the bottom right to confirm and it will slowly read
out the number you
need to type in that edit field on the website. You then
hit enter and
you're in.

Cheers

Barry

Subject: [access-uk] bank card readers

Hi

I recently up-graded my nationwide current account, I lost
the security I
had in place, I now need to use a card reader, they are
sending me one out,
I have never used one before, how easy are they to use, it
is an accessible
card reader. What is the easiest way for me to quickly
identify my different
bank cards? What is worrying me is the fact that I may lose
the focus on the
screen on my pc, I have to remember my pin number when it is
shown on the
card reader, I am ok at remember some things but it depends
on how many
characters the codes are.

Regards

Adrien
