Must say that I have a few niggles over the Cobolt site, although I can use it
OK. I have some residual sight, and use NVDA on the web.

Allegedly, you can change colour scheme on the Cobolt site. So far, so good.
White text on a black background still leaves links in blue. That is nowhere
near enough contrast. OK, if you run a mouse over links, once you know they're
there, they go a lighter blue. Not exactly the height of web accessibility
though. Not to worry, the site returns you to the defaults anyway when you
change page. A stylesheet wouldn't dump you like that, but far be it from me to
tell the professionals their job.

Some links just say click here. Cardinal sin in my book. Why would I want to
click here? Look at a links list wit your screen reader, and these links
wouldn't make sense.

The organisation of the site starts well enough, with buttons for online shop,
etc.. Go to the online shop, and you have a list of links to categories of
goods. Fine.

After that, things get a bit vague. If you go to one of the categories, e.g.,
Personal Items, that take up several pages, there are just next page and
previous page links. If you know that what you want is on page 4, tough luck.
It's not fatal, but it could easily be made better with better signposting.
There is a search box at the top of the page, which helps.

It wouldn't hurt to put drop-down boxes as shortcuts to categories or items,
and these could co-exist with what's already there. Not sure how they worked
out what customers want in this regard.

Vince.

  Hello from the hot south.

I would like other list members opinions on the following please.

I needed to buy a new talking watch so went onto the usual sites.

The site in question is COBOLT .

I had the devils time navigating around this site as to me there was no
structure on the site .

When I challenged them I was told there was nothing wrong but my computer
must be set up wrong.

I told the person that I could shop quite nicely at Amazon. Tesco , and
Sainsburys .
There are no headers at all and when I suggested putting a combo box was told
that their customers did not want one.

I really would like people's opinions on this one before I take it further.

  Thanks

  Hazel
