For those who are considering buying Sony cordless headphones, I would urge some caution. I have two pairs of what I think are the latest models, which give a very acceptable sound and don't suffer too much from interference. However, there is a big drawback to using them with the supplied rechargeable batteries, in that to recharge them the headphones must be placed back on the transmitter base station where they have to engage with a lug that protrudes from the base unit. To position this correctly is almost impossible unless you are normally sighted since the only indication that the phones are correctly positioned and recharging is a red L E D which changes to green when all is O.K. Despite this severe drawback, I still use my two pairs as I don't bother to recharge them, merely changing the rechargeable batteries for alkaline ones which I throw away when they are spent. Triple A batteries are very cheap from the Persula foundation and last for about 20 hours of listening, and I have no problem that the headphones suddenly need recharging just after I settle down to listen to my favourite radio play.
