on investigation, I discovered that This site is - well - semi-legal. It
operates due to a loophole in Russian law which means that the provision of
digital music files for download over the internet isn't technically
illegal, in Russia anyway. Allofmp3.com includes work by artists who
haven't licensed their work for online distribution such as the Beatles. As
far as I know the only people who are profiting from the site are its
owners, not the performers or the record companies. No, sadly the music
industry hasn't yet grown up enough to offer something as useful and
practical as that site off its own back, and insists on providing files in
.messedaboutwith format. How long before we need breakfast serial
authorisation codes?

James
