Hi Colin,

I am very much of the opinion you should ask the employer what sort of
PC you will probably get and then see if it will run the packages. For
example, a P4 2.66GHZ with 512MB is able to adequately run the software
fine, but at work I use JFW on an old seleron 1.xGHZ with 256MB of ram.
Although if I was getting a machine I wouldn't choose this spec, if I
needed higher spec it would mean that I would probably have to get the
money from ATW, rather than spending it on extra equipment (I had ATW
get me a Pacmate which was a lot more useful).

Remember also you will need JFW Pro which is more money.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on. I have recently done the
ATW thing about getting computer access, so if you want any info let me
know.

One thing is that ATW don't fund upgrades, so on the software you may
have to live with it for a while.

Hope this helps.
Andrew.

Subject: [access-uk] minimum PC specification

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could advise me of the minimum PC specifications
deemed necessary for JAWS 6.00 Kurzweil 1000 version 8.00 XP pro to run
on?

I'm about to have an ATW assessment for a new job that I'm about to take
up in central London, and first I need to stipulate what PC my employer
sticks on my desk.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Colin Fowler
