Driving myself mad with this so any suggestions appreciated.

Background is daughter is getting a laptop for chrismas so I need to move
the wireless router to get coverage all over the house.

Problem is, I have an office/playroom underneath the house so it is not
easy for me to get network cables down here.
There are 3 computers in the office running xp and various flavours of
linux.

The kit is draytek ap-800 for the repeater/access point and I have a couple
of routers (draytek 2600we and bt business hub 2wire 2700hgv.

I am having problems getting communication between the devices.

What I would like to do is connect the computers in the office to the ap-800
with network cables (the ap-800 has a built in 4 port switch). Then get a
signal wirelessly from the router upstairs to the ap-800.

What I am not sure about is the dhcp i.e. should the computers get an ip
address from the router, the ap-800 or have fixed ip addresses?

The ap-800 has a dhcp server built in to it which can be enabelled or
disabelled and same goes for the router.

The ap-800 manual leaves a bit to be desired.

I am sure it is an ip issue as I have turned off all security for my tests.

Ideas?

Thanks

Keith Barrett
