Hi group
I thought the list might like to know of a new gadget I've just taken delivery
of. It's a 2.4g wireless audio transmitter from a company called onno. It comes
as two metal clad boxes, each about the size of a pack of cards with a stumpy
antenna. In the box there are two mains transformers, two 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm
leads and a USB cable.

The device is designed to send an audio signal from whatever it's plugged into,
to your hifi or a pair of powered loudspeakers and the manufacturers claim a
range of 50 metres.

It's very easy to set up. The transmitter module is the one with the USB port
on it and you plug either the USB cable into your computer or the 3.5 mm jack
into your soundcard. The other module uses the other cable to plug into your
hifi.

And there it is - an instant connection from your computer to your sound system.

I have tried these sort of devices before and have always been disappointed
with the quality of the audio, it's usually ruined by poor frequency response
and loads of hiss - but not this one.

I have a fairly good sound system but my hearing is only average for a 50 year
old so some might criticise the audio quality, but I'm more than satisfied. I
haven't used the USB to connect to my computer, so I can't comment on that side.

The device costs £35 plus £5 postage and I think it's worth every penny.
