Alex, The Stainsby route suggested by someone else is probably not what you're wanting, if Carol is producing the document on the computer . . .. One way around it would be to send the document to a transcription service for printing. Unless she's wanting to do a lot of Braille documents, it's not worth the expense to think of getting an embosser. If you do go down the embosser route, you might want to try for one of the more portable, though rather less durable and somewhat slower, models. There may be some second-hand Porta-Thiels around, a Braille Blazer or two or something like that, which you could purchase. Otherwise, as I've said, the transcription route may be the one to go. Hope you can find a suitable answer soon. -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alexander Shannon" <alexacts2v4@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2006 11:05 AM Subject: [access-uk] other than Braille embossors, Is it possible to purchase machines that will write double sided braille these days? > Hi all, > My wife, Carol, is writing rather a long document which she wishes to > produce in Braille, however to reduce the amount of paper she would like > to > be able to produce the document double sided, hence my question in the > heading of this e-mail > > could everyone Please note before answering my question, that I have > already spoken to the RNIB and also looked at their latest catalogue, and > from what they say there is no way of producing double sided Braille > without > using an embosser. > > Thank you all in advance for your answers. > > > Alexander Shannon > > ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] > ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > ** and in the Subject line type > ** unsubscribe > ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the > ** immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] > ** or send a message, to > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq > ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
