[access-uk] winMX problem

hi all, i realised tonight i haden't reinstalled winMX after my last
reformat, so i just have and have a problem. everything looks okay, i can
search etc etc. but i don't appear to be able to download, and people can't
upload from me. i get a message saying "connecting to network" or similar
and i get no further. i've tried unloading sygate firewall with no joy. the
default incoming tcp connection for winMX is port 6699 and the outgoing one
is 6257. how do i check these are open to use? and if this isn't the
problem, any further suggestions? i'm using winXP and it's win MX 3.31 i've
installed.
