I know windows messenger still works in Windows XP. I use it. It is MSN
messenger that does not work anymore but for most people, I would say that
MSN messenger is largely pointless and live messenger even more so, but then again I am a person who sees little point in facebook and I could be burned
at the stake for that!

Cheers

Hi Derek and all.

I said in my previous mesage that I would use skype and a broadband
connection because I assumed you meant you wanted to talk messages rather
than type them.

Windows Messenger just lets you send messages, either voice or by text, to
anyone in your message list who is online. There is therefore nothing to
stop you emailing someone and seeing if they can use Instant Messaging to
talk to you. This may be blocked in many work settings or Windows
Messenger
may not be installed. Windows Messinger is provided with Windows however
so
it should be available for home users. I am not sure what messenger type
program comes with Vista or whether it is accessible but I am sure that
someone here knows.
