Thanks mo, followed your instructions to the letter and sfc .scannow did not
find any missing files.  Just as the startup sound plays when booting up I
get a gee tar string snapping sound don't know what that's all about. Joe

hi joe.

put the disk in your CD drive. press windows R for run and type in cmd 
and press enter.

then type:

sfc /scannow

and press enter and that'll check the files on your drive against the 
files on your windows disk.
