I agree with Mike on the part about not needing a tech. And we played
inside for the small ensemble Christmas concerts, but I think their
sanctuary would be too small for the whole ensemble to fit comfortably.
Their patio has plenty of room, so I think that would be best (and we've
played July 4th concerts there in past years, right?).
I'm happy to play there too since a good audience has shown up for the
patio concerts in the past. I don't know if the 50/50 split with the
church has been done at those concerts, but I'm fine with doing that since
the church also probably needs money.
The additional 10% basket admin fee is annoying though since they're
already taking 50% of the donations. And if they do require a tech to be
there, essentially we'll have to receive more than $250 of donations in
order to bring home any of the donation money ourselves. Which may or may
not happen depending on the size of the audience.
Again, I'm fine playing there, since we don't have tons of other concerts
lined up for the 4th of July season. (This one, Milwood, Rattan Creek
park, and maybe Westminster?) But for future seasons if we have too many
venues and are having to decide between them, this might be one to drop,
especially if they do require us to use their tech.

We just set up on their patio and play. Maybe they are thinking we want to
play inside? At any rate, they don't need to do anything on their end
except let us play on their patio. Shouldn't really be any cost or effort
on their part.

month or two ago I put in a request for a concert at the church on July 3 -
a Sunday in the early afternoon. We have had Fourth of July concerts there
in past years. The church is willing to have the concert. We would do a
love offering at the time of the concert and split the offering 50/50 with
the church. The cost of tech would be $100 and there would be a 10% of
basket admin fee.
When I spoke with Jennifer I indicated that I would like it to be a
church event and hoped that the time would allow people to attend after
services. While we can make it a public event and should advertise, I feel
that it is hard to get the public to attend events in churches. Jennifer
agreed to discuss this in her meeting this morning and get back to me.
My question is are we as a board willing to have a third concert in this
venue? What are your thoughts?
