I knew someone who recommended a few drops down your throat for a cold or
sore throat.
Seems to me kerosene would exacerbate a sore throat, but then I'm not a
doctor or rocket scientist.

Kerosene is pretty safe. Don’t specifically know if RP-1 still is but the
jet fuel and kerosene diesel fuels aren’t bad.
I don’t recommend taking a shot each night as an aperitif, but it won’t
kill you.
