I think the answer is mostly "yes". I read most of them (possibly all,
but I didn't keep records) in high school -- the school library had the
full set -- and wasn't at all impressed. Hunter's book was unusual in
having real, interesting technical content; I found the rest pretty
lightweight.
(I remember seeing the Faget book but have no specific memory of its
contents. I was a space nerd even then, so possibly it just didn't tell
me anything I didn't already know.)
