extract it ( you now have a thick walled piece of pipe.)
and then
wind the case directly onto the grain?
Use the core hole for an axle to fit through.
add an end plate on one side. ... a form piece for a nozzle
if you move to with-nozzle designs.
I'd not use filament winding but tape winding ( one go )
