Good points Henry.
If you have electric actuators for control surfaces stage separation, etc,
you probably would have some battery capacity to operate when the
turbopumps are not running. You also would not need a motor and a
generator... Just a single device that could spin up, add power, extract
power, and slow or brake the shaft.
Single shaft, turbine, pump and motor generator.
