My dad worked in the seismic business back in the 1930s (wow, 90 years ago).
They fired an inordinate amount of dynamite because the geophones of
that time were not very sensitive, so they needed the bang of a ton or
more to get good signals.
He told me of a case where a guy on his crew lost fingers when he
flipped out the cap leads in a sandstorm that was just crackling with
static. My guess is that a spark jumped through the primary explosive
in the cap and set it off.
PS -Don't forget about coupled RF voltage initiation.
