It was a busy, birdy morning here at our place on the mountain today. I got
44 species and 2 Empids . I was up just after daybreak, and the migrants
started moving in immediately. For the first hour of my birding day I slid
open the upstairs window, which gave me a good view of the backyard on the
same level with the birds in the trees. In that hour I counted 30 species
and 10 of the total 13 warbler species I had for the day. The highlight of
the day was this Philadelphia Vireo (in photo), which was my first of the
season, although having 6 Blackburnians, 6 Chestnut-sideds and 5 vireo
species was pretty hard to beat. See the complete list below.
