Craig,
I don't know of a secret to get the Orioles to come to the oranges. They eat
fruit in South America where they winter, so I don't see why they won't come
to yours. They may come to mine because they are in migration and looking
for food. Also the fact that I am located on a ridge where they come down to
feed might have something to do with it. I would leave them out and see if
they might start feeding from them. As long as the oranges don't look dried
up or eaten by something else I would leave them. The ants get in mine but
the orioles just flick them off. The Red-bellied Woodpeckers, a Gray Catbird
and a House Finch are also feeding on the oranges. I just stuck the orange
halves on twigs strong enough to hold them with the cut sides facing up. If
they get really dried out I would change them.
Congratulations on having the orioles nesting at your place. Mine usually
move on. There may be such an abundance of insect food in your area that
they aren't interested in the oranges.
As for the White-crowned Sparrows, it is getting a bit late for them to
remain here. I think they leave about the same time as the White-throated
Sparrows, and the late date I have for them is May 10. I did see one still
here today.

I have a pair of Baltimore Orioles in current production of a nest at my
house. I put out oranges for them two days ago but they have yet to feed on
them. Is there some secret in using oranges like placement etc? what is the
time frame to have oranges out Before need replaced?
Also as of Saturday (5/6), I have a White-crowned Sparrow still hanging
around. This is pretty late for them to be still on their wintering grounds
correct?
