Finally got a chance to go Hawkwatching! I spent about 3hrs (12-3) yesterday at the Birch Knob observation tower . The first hour was really slow but things picked up and I actually saw 79 Broadwings pass by and one Red-tail. I also saw a flashy adult Red-headed Woodpecker, Scarlet Tanager, Bay-br Warbler and several resident birds including Red-sh Hawk, Raven, Turkey Vulture, Pileated Wp... I'm certain I missed quite a few high flying hawks as I watched several disappear into the low hanging cumulus clouds. It was a perfect afternoon to be on a ridgetop. The visibility was excellent and the weather was nearly perfect. DaveR/Breaks,VA
