Daryl Owens came up early to join me for a morning of birding. We were not
disappointed with 52 species counted. The most unusual bird of the day was a
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher that perched in one of our walnut trees. However,
the Nashville Warbler and the Gray-cheeked Thrush were great birds to get
also. We had 11 Warbler species. In addition to the Nashville, a
Black-throated Blue was an unusual surprise. We had 4 vireo species:
White-eyed, Yellow-throated, Blue-headed and Philadelphia.
Attached are photos of the Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, the White-eyed Vireo
and a young Cardinal bathing in the stream. The Cardinal's colors are his
own, not enhanced.
