Weather:
Fog restricted the visibility to less than 50 yards for the first hour and
a half. The sun finally burned through and the fog and clouds began to
dissipate around 10:30. The first Broad-winged hawks were seen at 10:50.
For the rest of the day it was mostly sunny and we had a steady flow of
hawks. The winds were variable and light.
Raptor Observations:
Very pleasant day for hawk watching with just enough clouds to provide good
backdrop. Many of the hawks were far out over the valley on both sides of
the mountain until mid to late afternoon. Hard to see.
Non-raptor Observations:
We saw the usual array of vultures and one Raven. Bill Grigsby was sitting
in the wrong place when a Black Vulture decided to let go above the tower.
First time I can recall this happening! Sam Evans found a Red-breasted
Nuthatch early in the morning.
