Gary,
You guys are just covered up with Golden-wings in that area, aren't you. I hope
it stays that way, but the fact that you are seeing Blue-wings in that area
says it won't

I took an early morning trip to walk the fence rows around Hampton
Creek Cove. Being alone and having not seen any research people, I made sure
not to get within at least 200 yards of the nest area. After the storms of last
night, there was a fair amount of activity this morning.

        Hampton Creek Cove
        8:30am-10:30am
        Mostly Sunny

        Golden-winged Warbler-5
        Chestnut-sided Warbler-10
        Common Yellow-throat-6
        Northern Parula
        American Redstart-2
        Yellow Warbler
        Blue-winged Warbler (heard one singing)
        Yellow-billed Cuckoo (heard one calling)
        Indigo Bunting-20+
Gray Catbird (at least 10 in the same tree)
        Wild Turkey-6
        Magnolia Warbler-1
        Field Sparrow
        Song Sparrow
        American Goldfinch
        Red-winged Blackbird
        Eastern Towhee-10

Met a husband and wife from North Carolina near the trout bridge on my
way out. He said it was his birthday and he was hoping to get a Golden-winged
Warbler for his life list. Within 5 minutes we had seen two beautiful males. He
will remember this one!

After leaving Hampton Creek Cove, I stopped briefly at Picnic Area #1.
It was getting hot and muggy. Not much going on there, but one thing that might
be important. I saw and heard a Golden-winged Warbler on the small muddy access
road to the right of the volleyball net. It was in a tree just above the creek
that runs beside that road.

        Gray Catbird-6
        Song Sparrow
        Carolina Chickadee
        Chestnut-sided Warbler
        Eastern Phoebe
        Black-billed Cuckoo (heard one calling)
