Weather:
Mostly sunny skies with highs in the 70s. Winds light and variable mostly
out of the N,NE . Visibility 10 miles with moderate haze.
Raptor Observations:
First Broad-winged hawks starting coming by very low in the valley at 8:55.
Many struggling to find lift and having to flap their wings. Up to eye
level and above by 10:00. Highest numbers counted between 9:00 and 11:00. A
Cooper's hawk was seen chasing a Raven. Red-shouldered hawk was a juvenile.
Non-raptor Observations:
A number of Chimney Swifts were flying around the tower. We saw 1 Eastern
Phoebe 2 E. Wood-Pewees, Blue Jay, Carolina Wren, Downy WP and Pileated WP;
and one Raven under attack by a Cooper's hawk. The Peregrine Falcon came by
in the 10:00 hour.
Predictions:
Weather predicted to be about the same with perhaps more cloud cover. Hawks
will still be moving through.
