A mad rush of birds moved into our yard this morning about 8:00 a.m. Several
got away before I could get on them to make an ID, but I managed to get 44
species for the day with 13 of them being warblers. The highlight of the
morning was a beautiful male Golden-winged Warbler moving around in the
birch tree over our yard pond. I got only a short but definitive look before
diving for my camera, but by the time I came back to the window he had moved
on. Another unexpected surprise was an adult Red-headed Woodpecker in the
top of a wild cherry in our backyard. It also didn't stay long enough for a
photo. However, I did get some photos of some of the other birds. Attached
are a few shots from yesterday and today.
