The birds were not as active today as they were yesterday, but there are
still several migrants on the move. Yesterday I had another Summer Tanager.
That's 2 in 2 days. Some years I may not see any Summer Tanagers during
migration, but this year I have seen at least 5. The thrushes continue to
move through with Gray-cheeked, Swainson's and Wood Thrushes still around.
Until the last couple of days the Swainson's outnumbered the others, but now
the Wood Thrushes are heard and seen more often.
The Cape Mays and some others are still feeding on the grapes I put out. I
also had a Magnolia and a couple of Redstarts in the yard today. Like David
Raines I had Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and Tennessee Warblers feeding on Giant
Ragweed. I also saw the FOS Yellow-rumped Warbler yesterday. The Gray
Catbirds continue to move through.
