Yesterday, May 7, 2011 nine Buchanan County Bird Club members participated in a Migratory Birding Survey of the county. There were 80 species counted with 20 being warblers. David Raines had what is probably a record count of warblers for one day in the Breaks Park of 17 species . (The day's list is attached.) After the day of birding the group met at our house here on Compton Mountain for a delicious dinner, thanks to my wife, Lynda, of spaghetti, chicken drummies, French bread, potato salad, baked beans and a chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Janice and Fred Martin contributed a great blueberry cake and Susan Raines a batch of very tasty sugar cookies. Thanks to all those who particpated in the count. It was a day of fun birding with good friends. Too bad some of you weren't able to make it. If anyone did a count and has not yet sent me the list, please send it. I will add it to the compiled list.
