What's better than a Rosebreasted Grosbeak at your feeder, you ask? Rosebreasted Grosbeak(s) at your feeder. These two guys showed up this afternoon just after I finished mowing the lawn. I also had a Broad-winged Hawk flyover and the warblers have been singing their little syrinxes (hope that's a word) out! With Hooded, Norther Parula, Black-throated Green, Black and White, Yellow-throated, Ovenbird and American Redstart all checking in today. And, late yesterday evening I saw a small Sharp-shinned Hawk zip past in pursuit of a very scared American Goldfinch. The Goldfinch managed to escape and the Hawk landed in a tree across the road. He didn't stay long enough to have his portrait done, but stayed long enough for a good look through binoculars. (Don't know how he got the binoculars?) Daryl Owens Oakwood VA
