Good news. Last night's rains have refilled the Mud Hole. And it didn't take long for it to attract birds. On the way home from school this afternoon, I stopped by and found at least 70 Mallards and 55 Canada Geese either on the water or in the field around it. It's also worth mentioning that beavers have constructed a damn across the creek just above the bridge on Green Valley Road. This impoundment is visible from Elk Garden Road at the Mud Hole. There was one GBH in the edge of it, but I couldn't see any waterfowl on it. With any luck, by the time Tom Hunter leads his expedition, some of the less common ducks will have returned to the Mud Hole. Jerry
