On Saturday, May 2nd, the Russell County Bird Club conducted a bird walk as
part of the celebration of the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail "Getting to
Know You Tour". There were seven participants who braved the elements for this
event.
The rain shortened walk produced 36 species. Highlights included several
Louisiana Water
Thrushes, Cedar Waxwings hawking insects, the song of the Wood Thrush, the
beautiful color of the Indigo Bunting and the find of a first of season Eastern
Wood Peewee by one of our new birders Kim Ratliff.
