[bcbirdclub] Recent Birds on Compton Mountain

Since the day before our Warbler Day event on Sept. 15, I have hung grapes
in our cherry tree for the warblers, especially for the Cape Mays that
really love them. We have had Cape Mays here almost every day since then,
until a couple of days ago. From the amount of yellow on this one you can
tell it is a male.
On Sept. 15 we had our first Red-breasted Nuthatch of the season. This week
another one was in the tree in the backyard. On September 30, we had a rare
(for us) Yellow-bellied Flycatcher in the walnut tree in the backyard. Also
on the the 30th we saw our first Purple Finch of the season at our sunflower
seed feeder and our first of the season Palm Warbler. This past week the
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Cardinals and Towhees have spent a lot of time
feeding on the seeds at the tops of the Giant Ragweeds near the backyard
(known locally by some as Horse Weeds).
