Peggy Herbert of the RCBC will lead a bird walk Saturday morning, April 12, at 7:30 at Slate's Campground on the Clinch River near Blackford. We'll look for spring migrants and resident species. There are usually some early spring wildflowers to enjoy as well. To get to the campground off US 19, go to Rosedale and turn on VA 80 (Redbud Highway) toward Honaker. After you cross the Clinch River bridge at Blackford, watch for Stumptown Road on your left. It's about 0.7 mile and is the first road to the left. Follow it about 0.7 mile and bear left on Campground Road. You'll come to the river and you should see cars from the other people there. A map is attached that shows the part of the route from the bridge to the campground. Jerry Thornhill RCBC
