Please join us this Saturday, September 24th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mendota
Fire Tower as we remember Tom Hunter and his contributions to the Mendota
Hawk Watch and the birding community. We will display a plaque recognizing
Tom's accomplishments and share our memories of Tom. (Please reply to this
email if you wish to speak. All are welcome.)
Bring your binoculars and stick around to count the hawks as they pass by
on their way to their winter homes.
The forecast looks good, but in the event of inclement weather, please
check your email on Saturday morning before you leave home.
Access to the tower requires a quarter-mile hike uphill on a trail
traversing forest terrain. The site is rocky and exposed, so please
prepare accordingly.
For those who cannot attend, another event will be held at an accessible
location. Tom's plaque will be available for viewing at this event as well.
