Greetings, My last two remaining Ruby-throated hummingbirds have been absent for several days now, so when I saw a hummer at my feeders it sparked my curiosity. This bird showed up at about 10 am this morning, visited the feeders 3 times in 15 minutes, and did not return for the remainder of the day. I think Broad-tailed & Calliope can be ruled out due to the obvious white collar, so that would narrow down the Selasphorus species to Rufous or Allen's. This being an immature male or a female the species can't be identified without handheld measurements of the tail feathers. The shape of certain tail feathers can be an indication of one species or the other, but the other photos I was able to get do not show this well enough for an ID.
